Pavta Patties

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup Lima Beans, soaked overnight
  • 2 medium-sized Potatoes, boiled, peeled, and mashed
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Cayenne Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 4 tsp Flour (for coating)
  • 5 tbsp Oil (for shallow frying)
  1. Preparation

    • Boil the soaked lima beans in enough water until very soft.
    • Drain and keep aside.
    • Mash the boiled potatoes and set aside.
  2. Making the Dough

    • In a bowl, combine cooked beans, mashed potatoes, turmeric powder, cayenne powder, and garam masala.
    • Knead well into a stiff dough.
    • Divide the dough into equal-sized balls and flatten each slightly to form patties.
  3. Frying the Patties

    • Heat oil in a shallow frying pan on medium flame.
    • Roll each patty lightly in flour.
    • Shallow fry until golden brown and crisp on both sides.
    • Drain on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  4. Serving

    • Serve hot with tamarind chutney or green chutney as a snack or appetizer.
