Methiwala Chawal

A simple, aromatic rice dish infused with fresh methi leaves and mild spices.

Ingredients

  1. **Main Ingredients

    • 1 medium bunch fenugreek leaves
    • 2 cups rice
    • 1 tomato
    • 4 cups water
    • Salt to taste
  2. **Spices

    • 1 tsp red chilli powder
    • 2 tsp coriander powder
    • 1 tsp turmeric powder
    • 1 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  3. **For Cooking

    • 7 tbsp oil

Instructions

  1. **Prepare the ingredients

    • Clean, wash, and chop the fenugreek leaves.
    • Wash and chop the tomato.
    • Wash the rice and soak it for about 20 minutes.
  2. **Sauté the methi and spices

    • Heat oil and add cumin seeds.
    • Add methi leaves and fry for about 5 minutes.
    • Add chopped tomato, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and turmeric powder.
    • Fry until the tomato softens and oil separates.
  3. **Cook the rice

    • Add soaked rice, salt, and 4 cups of water.
    • Cook on high flame until the first boil appears.
    • Reduce heat and simmer until the rice is fully cooked.
    • Serve hot.
