Onion and Cabbage Coleslaw

A refreshing and creamy coleslaw made with crisp cabbage, tender onions, and a lightly tangy yogurt dressing.

Ingredients

  1. Cabbage – 250 gms
  2. Tender onions – 250 gms
  3. Curd – 1 cup
  4. Mayonnaise – 1 tbsp
  5. Sugar – 1 tbsp
  6. Light vinegar – 1 tbsp
  7. Green chilli (finely chopped) – 1
  8. Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Prepare vegetables

    • Shred the cabbage finely
    • Slice the tender onions thinly
    • Keep them ready
  2. Soak vegetables

    • Put shredded cabbage and onions in salted ice water
    • Let them stand for about 1 hour
    • This helps keep them crisp
  3. Drain and dry

    • Rinse vegetables in cold water
    • Drain completely
    • Wipe gently with a clean dry towel
  4. Prepare dressing

    • Take curd in a bowl
    • Add mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar, green chilli, salt, and pepper
    • Blend well until smooth
  5. Mix coleslaw

    • Add cabbage and onions to the dressing
    • Mix gently to coat evenly
  6. Chill and serve

    • Refrigerate for about 1 hour
    • Serve chilled as a side dish
