Kachumber Salad

Kachumber Salad is a simple, fresh, and crunchy Indian salad made with finely chopped cucumber, onion, tomato, and lettuce — seasoned with lemon juice, vinegar, and spices. It’s light, tangy, and the perfect side dish for any Indian meal.

Ingredients

For the Salad:

  • ½ cucumber – peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 onions – finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes – finely chopped
  • ½ lettuce – chopped
  • 2 tsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • ¼ tsp chili powder
  • Salt and pepper – to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Vegetables

    • Wash all vegetables thoroughly under running water.
    • Peel the cucumber and finely chop it.
    • Finely chop the onions, tomatoes, and lettuce.
    • Place all the chopped vegetables together in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Make the Dressing

    • In a small bowl, mix together Lime juice, Vinegar, Chili powder and Salt and pepper
    • Stir well until all the seasonings are combined.
  3. Combine and Toss

    • Pour the prepared dressing over the chopped vegetables.
    • Toss everything gently until the vegetables are evenly coated with the dressing.
    • Taste and adjust salt or lime juice if needed.
  4. Serve

    • Serve the Kachumber Salad immediately for a crunchy texture.
    • Optionally, chill it for 10–15 minutes before serving for a refreshing flavor.

Serving Suggestion

  • Perfect as a side salad with Indian meals like dal, curry, or biryani.
  • Can also be enjoyed as a light and healthy snack.
