Papaya Lachha Salad

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg Raw Papaya
  • 1 kg Sugar
  • 3/4 litre Water
  • A drop of Cardamom Essence
  1. Preparation

    • Peel the raw papaya.
    • Cut it into thin, long lachha-style slices.
  2. Preparing the Sugar Syrup

    • In a pan, add sugar and water.
    • Heat on medium flame, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
    • Cook until the syrup reaches one-string consistency.
  3. Cooking the Papaya

    • Add papaya slices to the sugar syrup.
    • Add a drop of cardamom essence.
    • Cook for 7–8 minutes, stirring continuously to prevent sticking.
  4. Cooling & Storing

    • Switch off the flame and allow the mixture to cool completely.
    • Transfer to a clean, dry glass jar.
  5. Serving

    • Serve chilled or at room temperature as a sweet salad or dessert.
    • Store refrigerated for longer shelf life.
