Onion Chutney
A spicy and flavorful chutney made with sautéed onions, garlic, and red chilies, perfect with paratha or puri.
Ingredients
- Peeled onions – 1 cup
- Garlic flakes – 6–7
- Channa dal – 2 tbsp
- Red chilies – 5 (or to taste)
- Tamarind – little
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Curry leaves – few
- Salt – to taste
Method

Fry ingredients
- Heat oil in a pan
- Add red chilies, channa dal, and garlic
- Fry until aromatic
- Add onions and sauté till golden brown

Grind chutney
- Transfer the fried mixture to a grinder
- Add tamarind and salt
- Grind to a smooth or slightly coarse paste

Prepare tempering
- Heat a little oil in a small pan
- Add mustard seeds and let them splutter
- Add curry leaves and sauté briefly

Finish and serve
- Pour the tempering over the chutney
- Mix well
- Serve with paratha or puri
