Mixed Dal Dosa

A protein-rich, crispy, and flavorful dosa made by blending rice with a mix of dals.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup rice
  2. 1/3 cup each yellow moong dal, channa dal, urad dal
  3. 2 tbsp curds
  4. 1/2 tsp soda bicarb
  5. 2 tbsp oil
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Oil for shallow frying

Instructions

  1. Soak the ingredients

    • Wash rice separately.
    • Wash all dals together.
    • Soak both in plenty of water for 5–6 hours.
  2. Prepare the batter

    • Wet grind the rice until a semolina-like texture is achieved.
    • Wet grind the dal mixture until fine.
    • Mix both batters together.
    • Add curds, salt, soda bicarb, and oil.
    • Mix well until the batter becomes light and fluffy.
    • Set aside for 3–4 hours to rest.
  3. Make the dosa

    • Heat a griddle and pour a ladle of batter.
    • Spread into a thin or thick dosa as preferred.
    • Shallow fry with little oil until crisp and golden.
    • Serve hot with chutney.
