Mango Chutney 1

A sweet-tangy chutney made with raw mangoes, sugar, and spices.**

Ingredients 1/4 cup refined oil 1 teaspoon mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 1/2 kg raw mango 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup water 5 cups sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mangoes

    • Peel the mangoes.
    • Remove the seeds.
    • Cut the mangoes into small pieces and keep aside.
  2. Temper the spices

    • Heat oil in a pan.
    • Add mustard seeds.
    • Allow them to crackle.
  3. Cook the mango mixture

    • Add turmeric powder, salt, and mango pieces.
    • Stir well to coat everything evenly.
    • Add water and bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. Add sugar and thicken

    • Add sugar once the mixture starts boiling.
    • Continue boiling while stirring continuously to avoid burning.
    • Cook until the chutney thickens.
  5. Finish and store

    • Remove from heat once thick.
    • Cool to room temperature.
    • Refrigerate and serve cold.
