Coriander Chutney

A bright and refreshing Coriander Chutney recipe — made with fresh coriander leaves, green chilies, and lemon juice, this versatile chutney pairs perfectly with Indian snacks, dosa, or rice.

Ingredients

For the Chutney:

  • 1 cup fresh coriander leaves – tightly packed
  • 1–2 green chilies – adjust to taste
  • 1–2 garlic cloves (optional)
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons roasted peanuts or roasted chana dal (optional – for thickness)
  • Salt – to taste
  • Water – as needed

Method

  1. Prepare the Ingredients

    • Rinse the coriander leaves thoroughly under running water.
    • Roughly chop the leaves and set aside.
  2. Blend the Chutney

    • In a blender, combine coriander leaves, green chilies, ginger, garlic (if using), lemon juice, and salt.
    • Add roasted peanuts or chana dal, if using, for a thicker consistency.
  3. Adjust Texture and Flavor

    • Add a few tablespoons of water and grind to a smooth paste.
    • Taste and adjust salt, lemon juice, or chilies as needed for desired flavor.
  4. Serve

    • Transfer to a bowl and serve immediately.
