Eggless French toast

A quick and savory twist on the classic French toast, this Eggless French Toast is made with curd, semolina, and spices — a perfect breakfast or tea-time snack.

Ingredients

  • 4–5 slices bread
  • 2 tsp semolina (sooji)
  • 2 tsp curd
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 pod garlic, crushed
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Few coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 2–3 tsp oil

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine semolina, curd, chopped onion, green chillies, crushed garlic, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, and coriander leaves.
  2. Mix well to form a smooth, medium-consistency batter that can be easily spread on bread.
  3. Heat oil on a tawa or frying pan.
  4. Place the bread slices on the pan and spread the prepared batter evenly on top.
  5. Flip the slices and coat the other side with batter as well.
  6. Toast both sides until crisp and golden brown.
  7. Serve hot with tomato ketchup or chutney.
