Ingredients

  • 2 slices bacon
  • 1 egg
  • 2 slices bread (any kind)
  • Butter, as needed
  • Cheddar cheese, sliced

Method

  1. Cook the bacon:

    • Heat a pan over medium heat and fry the bacon until crisp and golden brown.
    • Transfer the cooked bacon onto paper towels to drain excess fat. Set aside.
  2. Fry the egg:

    • Wipe out the pan and add a little butter if needed.
    • Crack in the egg and fry to your desired doneness.
    • For a richer flavor, leave the yolk slightly runny.
  3. Prepare the bread:

    • Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
    • Keep the buttered sides facing outwards for toasting.
  4. Assemble the sandwich:

    • On the unbuttered side of one slice, place a layer of cheese, followed by the fried egg and crispy bacon.
    • Top with another slice of cheese if desired, then cover with the second bread slice, buttered side out.
  5. Grill the sandwich:

    • Heat a flat griddle or frying pan over medium-high flame.
    • Place the sandwich on the hot surface and cook until the underside is golden brown.
    • Flip carefully and grill the other side until evenly browned and the cheese melts.
  6. Serve hot:

    • Remove from the pan and slice diagonally for a classic look.
    • Serve immediately while the cheese is gooey and warm.

Notes:

  • If making multiple sandwiches, slightly reduce the heat between batches to prevent the bread from browning before the cheese melts completely.
  • You can add a slice of tomato or avocado for an extra layer of flavor.
