Plain Dosa
Ingredients
- 1 cup Split Black Gram (Urad Dal)
- 2 cups Rice Flour
- Salt to taste
- Water as required

Preparation
- Wash and soak urad dal in plenty of water for 3 hours.

Preparing the Batter
- Grind the soaked urad dal with water to a smooth, fluffy consistency.
- Add rice flour and salt to the batter and mix well.
- Add water if required to get a pouring consistency.

Fermentation
- Cover and allow the batter to ferment overnight or for 8–10 hours in a warm place.

Making the Dosa
- Heat a dosa tawa on medium flame.
- Pour a ladle of batter and spread it thin in a circular motion.
- Drizzle a little oil around the edges if required.
- Cook until the dosa turns crisp and golden.

Serving
- Remove from the tawa and serve hot.
- Serve with coconut chutney and sambar.
