Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp lemon extract

Method

  1. Preparation

    • Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
    • Grease a cake tin with butter or oil and keep aside.
  2. Mixing

    • In a mixing bowl, add butter and sugar and mix well.
    • Add eggs and beat until the mixture is smooth.
    • Add buttermilk, vanilla extract, and lemon extract. Mix well.
    • Add flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
    • Mix until a smooth, lump-free batter is formed.
  3. Baking

    • Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin.
    • Bake at 325°F for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  4. Serving

    • Allow the cake to cool completely.
    • Slice and serve plain, with fruits, or frosted as desired.
