Mounds Cake

A rich, chocolatey cake layered with coconut frosting, inspired by the classic Mounds candy bar.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cake mix (white or yellow)
  2. 1/2 cup cocoa
  3. 1/2 cup sugar
  4. 2 cups chocolate chips
  5. 1 cup chocolate syrup
  6. 8 oz Cool Whip
  7. 2 cups shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake Batter

    • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
    • Prepare cake mix as per package instructions.
    • Add cocoa and sugar to the batter and blend well.
  2. Bake the Cake

    • Pour the batter into the greased baking dish.
    • Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly on top.
    • Bake for 30 minutes.
  3. Add Syrup Layer

    • Remove the cake from the oven and poke holes using a meat fork.
    • Warm the chocolate syrup and pour it over the hot cake so it seeps into the holes.
    • Cover and cool the cake overnight.
  4. Frost the Cake

    • Mix Cool Whip and shredded coconut to make the frosting.
    • Spread evenly over the cooled cake.
    • Chill and serve.
