Paneer Bhurji

A quick and comforting North Indian dish made with crumbled paneer cooked in mildly spiced onion-tomato masala.

Ingredients

  1. 200 gms paneer (crumbled)
  2. 1 tbsp oil
  3. 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  4. 2 green chillies (finely chopped)
  5. 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  6. 1 medium tomato (finely chopped)
  7. 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  8. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  9. 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  10. 1/2 tsp salt

Method

  1. **Preparing vegetables

    • Finely chop the onion, tomato, and green chillies.
  2. **Making the base

    • Heat oil in a deep-bottomed pan.
    • Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
    • Add chopped onions and ginger-garlic paste.
    • Fry till onions turn golden brown.
  3. **Cooking the masala

    • Add chopped green chillies and tomatoes.
    • Fry till tomatoes become soft and pulpy.
  4. **Adding spices

    • Add turmeric powder, garam masala powder, and salt.
    • Sprinkle a little water and mix well so spices combine evenly.
  5. **Adding paneer

    • Add crumbled paneer to the masala.
    • Stir fry for about 5 minutes till paneer blends well with the masala.
  6. **Serving

    • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
    • Serve hot with roti, paratha, or bread.
