Moru Curry
A light, tangy South Indian yogurt-based curry enriched with coconut and a flavorful tempering.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp yogurt
- 1/2 cup coconut paste
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1/4 tsp fenugreek powder (optional)
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- A pinch of turmeric
- A pinch of mustard seeds
- 1 tbsp chopped onion
- 4 broken whole red chillies
- 1/2 tsp garlic
- 1 tsp ginger
- Curry leaves
Instructions

Prepare the Base
- Blend coconut paste, yogurt, and green chillies into a smooth mixture.
- Add 1 cup water, red chilli powder, turmeric, and salt.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and switch off the flame.

Prepare the Tempering
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and fenugreek powder (if using) and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onion, broken red chillies, garlic, ginger, and curry leaves; sauté briefly.

Combine
- Pour the tempering over the prepared curry base and mix well before serving.
