Patta Gobhi Mattar

Ingredients

  • 1 small Cabbage (approx. 450 gms), chopped
  • 1 small Onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup Green Peas (Matar)
  • 1–2 Green Chillies, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Cooking Oil as required
  1. Preparation

    • Chop the cabbage into thin strips.
    • Slice the onion thinly.
    • Chop green chillies and measure the spices.
  2. Tempering & Cooking Onions

    • Heat oil in a wok or kadai on medium flame.
    • Add cumin seeds and allow them to splutter.
    • Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Cooking the Cabbage & Peas

    • Add chopped green chillies and cabbage. Mix well.
    • Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, and salt. Stir to coat evenly.
    • Cover and cook for 3–4 minutes on low flame.
    • Add green peas and cook until the cabbage is tender and all water has evaporated.
  4. Serving

    • Serve hot with chapati, roti, or paratha.
