Coconut Chutney (Type 1)

Ingredients:

  • 1 fresh coconut, grated
  • 3 fresh green chilies (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro (coriander leaves)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon or lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon roasted split peas (chana dal)
  • ¾ cup plain yogurt
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a blender.
  2. Grind coarsely to a slightly chunky consistency, adding a little water if needed.
  3. Adjust salt and spice level as per taste.
  4. Serve immediately as a side with dosa, idli, or any South Indian dish.
