Cilantro Chutney
A fresh and vibrant Cilantro Chutney recipe — a flavorful Indian condiment made with coriander leaves, green chilies, and spices, perfect for pairing with snacks, dosas, or sandwiches.
Ingredients
For the Chutney:
- 1 bunch fresh cilantro (coriander leaves), washed and roughly chopped
- 2–3 green chilies (adjust to taste)
- 1-inch piece of ginger, peeled and chopped
- 1–2 cloves garlic (optional)
- ½ teaspoon cumin seeds or cumin powder
- Salt – to taste
- 1–2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1–2 tablespoons water (as needed for blending)
- 1 tablespoon yogurt (optional, for creaminess)
Method
Step 1: Blend the Ingredients
- Add chopped cilantro, green chilies, ginger, garlic (if using), cumin, and salt to a blender or food processor.
- Pour in lemon juice and add 1 tablespoon of water.
Step 2: Blend Smooth
- Blend everything until you get a smooth chutney.
- Add more water, a little at a time, to adjust the consistency.
Step 3: Add Yogurt (Optional)
- For a creamy texture, mix in 1 tablespoon of yogurt after blending.
- Blend once more briefly or stir to combine.
Step 4: Taste and Adjust
- Taste the chutney and adjust salt or lemon juice if needed.
- Transfer to a clean bowl or jar.
Serving & Storage
- Serve immediately with dosa, idli, samosas, or sandwiches.
- Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Best consumed within 2–3 days for optimal flavor.
