Birbal's Magical Elephant
One day, Emperor Akbar, full of mischief, gave Birbal an unusual challenge: “Bring me a talking elephant!” he demanded.
Without hesitation, Birbal agreed. The next day, he arrived with a beautifully decorated elephant, accompanied by drummers and musicians to announce its arrival. Curious and excited, Akbar went up to the elephant, waiting to hear it speak. But the animal stood silently.
Puzzled, Akbar frowned. “Birbal, you promised me a talking elephant. Why hasn’t it said a word?”
With a calm smile, Birbal replied, “Your Majesty, the elephant is speaking—just not in our language. It speaks in ‘Elephantese,’ which only elephants can understand. And trust me, it’s a language you wouldn’t want to struggle with!”
Hearing this, Akbar burst into laughter, once again impressed by Birbal’s quick wit and playful wisdom.
Moral: Wit and presence of mind can turn even the toughest challenge into a delightful victory.
Summary: Akbar asked Birbal for a talking elephant. Birbal brought one, and when it didn’t speak, he explained it spoke “Elephantese,” a language only elephants knew, making Akbar laugh at his cleverness.
