Onion Raita
A refreshing yogurt-based side dish with finely chopped onions, mild spices, and a simple mustard tempering.
Ingredients
- Curd – 1/2 kg
- Onions – 2 (finely chopped)
- Green chilly – 1 (finely chopped)
- Ginger – 1 (finely chopped)
- Coriander leaves – few (finely chopped)
- Oil – 1 tsp (for tadka)
- Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
- Salt – 1 tsp
Method

**Prepare the curd base
- Beat the curd until smooth and lump-free
- Ensure a creamy consistency

**Add vegetables and seasoning
- Add chopped onions, green chilly, ginger, coriander leaves, and salt
- Mix gently to combine evenly

**Prepare tempering
- Heat oil in a small ladle or spoon
- Add mustard seeds and allow them to splutter

**Finish the raita
- Pour the hot tempering over the raita
- Mix well so the flavors blend uniformly

**Chill and serve
- Refrigerate for 1–2 hours for best taste
- Serve chilled with imli rice or any spicy rice dish
