Masala Supari

Masala Supari is a fragrant, crunchy, spiced mouth freshener made with roasted betel nuts and aromatic spices.

**Ingredients

  1. Chickai supari – 125 g
  2. Poppy seeds – 4 tbsp
  3. Nutmeg powder – 1/4 tsp
  4. Pot masala – 1 tbsp
  5. Cloves – 8 to 10
  6. Coconut, scraped – 1/2 cup
  7. Bhardi supari – 250 g
  8. Green cardamoms – 8 to 10
  9. Ghee – 2 tbsp
  10. Fennel seeds – 1 cup

**Instructions

  1. **Roast the ingredients

    • Roast coconut, cardamoms, poppy seeds, cloves and fennel seeds separately
  2. **Grind spices

    • Grind cardamoms, poppy seeds, cloves and fennel seeds into a coarse powder
  3. **Prepare the supari

    • Break both types of supari into coarse pieces
  4. **Fry the supari

    • Heat ghee and fry the supari until golden
  5. **Mix and finish

    • Combine fried supari with ground spices, nutmeg powder, pot masala and coconut
  6. **Cool and serve

    • Allow it to cool completely before serving
