Lemon Rice 3

A vibrant and tangy South Indian rice dish tempered with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and lemon juice, offering a refreshing burst of flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

  1. Boiled rice – 2 cups
  2. Lemon juice – 1/3 cup
  3. Oil – 6 tbsp
  4. Black mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  5. Curry leaves – a few
  6. Green chilies – as desired
  7. Salt – to taste
  8. Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  9. Peanuts – 1/4 cup

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tempering

    • Heat oil in a pan.
    • Add black mustard seeds and allow them to splutter for a few seconds.
  2. Add Flavor and Crunch

    • Add turmeric powder and peanuts.
    • Fry the peanuts until they turn golden brown and crisp.
  3. Add Aromatics

    • Add green chilies, curry leaves, and salt.
    • Fry the mixture for about 2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Incorporate Lemon Juice

    • Remove the pan from the flame.
    • Add lemon juice and mix well to blend the flavors.
  5. Combine with Rice

    • Pour the prepared tempering over the boiled rice.
    • Mix gently so that every grain is evenly coated with the lemon mixture.
  6. Serve

    • Serve the lemon rice warm or at room temperature — perfect for a quick meal or travel dish.
