The Wily Jackals - Trouble Between Friends

Long ago, in a vast kingdom, there ruled a wicked king named Kachadruma. He was cruel, greedy, and cared only for his own wealth and power. His subjects lived in fear, suffering under his heavy taxes and harsh punishments.

One day, a wise sage named Vishruta arrived in the kingdom. Seeing the suffering of the people, he decided to teach the king a lesson. The sage disguised himself as a merchant and gained an audience with Kachadruma.

“O mighty king, I have discovered a hidden treasure in the deepest part of the forest,” the sage said. “It is filled with gold, but only the bravest and strongest can claim it.”

Greedy and eager to possess more wealth, Kachadruma immediately set out into the forest with his soldiers. As they ventured deep inside, they encountered a magical lake. The sage, still disguised, pointed towards the water.

“The treasure lies at the bottom of this lake, but only those with a pure heart can see it.”

Laughing arrogantly, the king waded into the lake, confident that he was the strongest of all. But the moment he stepped in, the water swirled violently, pulling him under. The lake was enchanted—it only reflected the hearts of those who entered it. Kachadruma, whose heart was filled with greed and cruelty, was swallowed by the waters, never to return.

With the evil king gone, the kingdom rejoiced. The sage revealed his true identity and guided the people to choose a wise and just ruler. Peace and prosperity returned to the land.

Moral: Greed and cruelty lead to one’s downfall, while wisdom and kindness restore balance and harmony.
