Kacche Kele Ki Chaat
Kacche Kele Ki Chaat(Raw Banana Chaat) is a delicious, crunchy, and tangy Indian street-style snack made with raw bananas. The fried banana chips are tossed in spicy and sweet chutneys, making it a perfect tea-time treat or festive appetizer.
Ingredients
- 4 raw bananas
- 4 tbsp chili sauce
- 4 tbsp meethi (sweet tamarind) chutney
- 1 tsp chaat masala
- Oil for deep frying
- 1 tsp chopped coriander leaves
- Sev for garnish (optional)
Instructions
-
Prepare the Raw Bananas
- Peel the raw bananas using a peeler or knife.
- Slice them finely into thin, round pieces — similar to chips.
- Immediately place the slices into a bowl of cold water. This prevents discoloration and removes excess starch.
- Soak the slices for at least 30 minutes.
-
Deep-Fry the Banana Slices
- Heat sufficient oil in a deep frying pan over medium flame.
- Drain the banana slices from the water and pat them dry using a clean cloth or paper towel.
- Gently slide the slices into the hot oil in batches.
- Fry until they turn crisp and golden brown.
- Remove using a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Allow them to cool slightly.
-
Mix the Chaat
- Transfer the fried banana chips to a mixing bowl.
- Add chili sauce and meethi chutney, mixing gently so all chips are coated evenly. Adjust the quantity of sauces as per taste for desired spiciness and sweetness.
- Sprinkle chaat masala evenly over the mixture.
-
Garnish and Serve
- Transfer the prepared chaat to a serving dish.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and sev (if using).
- Serve immediately while the chips are still crisp and flavorful.
Tip: For a twist, you can add finely chopped onions, tomatoes, and pomegranate seeds before serving for extra crunch and freshness.
