Kacche Kele Ki Chaat

Kacche Kele Ki Chaat(Raw Banana Chaat) is a delicious, crunchy, and tangy Indian street-style snack made with raw bananas. The fried banana chips are tossed in spicy and sweet chutneys, making it a perfect tea-time treat or festive appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 4 raw bananas
  • 4 tbsp chili sauce
  • 4 tbsp meethi (sweet tamarind) chutney
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • Oil for deep frying
  • 1 tsp chopped coriander leaves
  • Sev for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Raw Bananas

    • Peel the raw bananas using a peeler or knife.
    • Slice them finely into thin, round pieces — similar to chips.
    • Immediately place the slices into a bowl of cold water. This prevents discoloration and removes excess starch.
    • Soak the slices for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Deep-Fry the Banana Slices

    • Heat sufficient oil in a deep frying pan over medium flame.
    • Drain the banana slices from the water and pat them dry using a clean cloth or paper towel.
    • Gently slide the slices into the hot oil in batches.
    • Fry until they turn crisp and golden brown.
    • Remove using a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
    • Allow them to cool slightly.
  3. Mix the Chaat

    • Transfer the fried banana chips to a mixing bowl.
    • Add chili sauce and meethi chutney, mixing gently so all chips are coated evenly. Adjust the quantity of sauces as per taste for desired spiciness and sweetness.
    • Sprinkle chaat masala evenly over the mixture.
  4. Garnish and Serve

    • Transfer the prepared chaat to a serving dish.
    • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and sev (if using).
    • Serve immediately while the chips are still crisp and flavorful.

Tip: For a twist, you can add finely chopped onions, tomatoes, and pomegranate seeds before serving for extra crunch and freshness.
