Idli Upma
Idli Upma is a delicious South Indian dish made from leftover idlis. Flavored with spices, onions, and curry leaves, it is a quick and easy way to transform simple idlis into a warm, comforting meal. It’s perfect for breakfast, evening snacks, or even as a light dinner.
Ingredients:
- 3 leftover idlis
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon urad dal
- 1/2 teaspoon channa dal
- 1 green chilli, chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1 teaspoon oil
- Salt to taste

Prepare the Idlis:
- Crumble the leftover idlis into small pieces and keep aside.

Make the Tempering:
- Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, urad dal, and channa dal.
- Fry until the seeds splutter and the dals turn golden brown.

Add Aromatics:
- Add chopped green chilli, onion, and curry leaves.
- Sauté until the onion turns light pink and translucent.

Mix with Idlis:
- Add salt and red chilli powder. Stir well.
- Add the crumbled idlis and mix until everything is evenly coated with the spices.

Serve Hot:
- Serve Idli Upma hot, either plain or with coconut chutney, pickle, or curd on the side.
