Internet
Internet is a collection of networks that connects computers throughout the world. Each computer connected to the internet is called a host. This service is provided by an Internet Service Provider (ISP) with the help of connection software that works at the system software level.
History
Internet was first started as a funded project by the U.S. Military in 1969. The first model of the Internet was called ARPANET — short for Advanced Research Projects Agency Network. It was used to connect different colleges and universities where military research took place.
Around 1980, ARPANET was replaced by NSFNET, which was later extended to the general public through dial-up connections offered by ISPs at a cost.
In 1989, the face of the Internet changed with the introduction of the World Wide Web (WWW). Combining the power of email, web, and online chatting in the early 1990s made the Internet immensely popular.
