Birbal and the Dispute of Motherhood
One day, two women appeared before Emperor Akbar’s court, each claiming to be the mother of the same child. The emperor listened carefully but could not decide who was telling the truth. So, he turned to Birbal for a solution.
Birbal paused in thought and then proposed a shocking idea: “Since both claim the child, let us cut him in half and give each woman an equal share.”
Hearing this, one woman nodded in agreement. But the other woman cried out in anguish, “No! Do not harm the child. Let her have him, but please spare his life!”
Birbal immediately pointed to the second woman. “Your Majesty, she is the true mother. Only a real mother would value her child’s life above her own claims.”
Akbar praised Birbal’s wisdom, and the child was returned to his rightful mother.
Moral: True love is selfless and always puts the well-being of others first.
Summary: Two women claimed the same child. Birbal suggested splitting the child. One woman agreed, while the other pleaded to spare the child’s life. Birbal identified the second woman as the true mother, showing that real love is selfless.
