Plot

Killer Diary (1995) is a Kannada thriller about Kavya, a young author who writes a weekly serialised crime story titled Killer Diary in a magazine. Her six close friends - Rajani, Tanuja, Maaji, Latha, Apsara and herself - live in an apartment colony, and the story in the magazine begins to eerily mirror real‑life murders happening around them. As each friend is killed in ways that match the next chapter of her serial, a Special Crime Branch officer named Pratap investigates the case and suspects that the killer is following Kavya's script. Suspicion briefly falls on Kavya herself, but it is later revealed that the real killer is someone with a personal grudge tied to a hit-and-run accident that drove his sister Kusuma insane. In the climax, Kavya uncovers the truth just before the killer can frame her, and the murderer is ultimately stopped, bringing closure to the series of killings that had shadowed her own "killer diary."
